Cloud County Health Center announces the purchase of a new Hill Rom Birthing Bed for the hospital’s Family Birthing Center.  According to Lori Lowell, RN, BSN, CCE, who is the Nurse Manager of Maternal/Child Care at the hospital, a birthing bed is unique in that it allows the mom to have different and comfortable positions during labor and birth.  A new birthing bed was added in 1998 when the Family Birthing Center, located on the third floor of the hospital, was remodeled.  At that time, the Birthing Center received homelike furnishings, including a glider rocker, an oak armoire, and enough room for family members to wait for the birth of their new baby.  The recent birthing bed purchase is an updated and more modern version of the 1998 model.

Cloud County Foundation for Health Care is pleased to have provided the financial assistance for the new birthing bed.  The Foundation also recently provided funds for the purchase of a video fluoroscopy chair, which assists the speech pathologist and radiologist in testing patients who have difficulty swallowing.
